Assistant Sign Production Technician

Job Overview: Responsible for finishing signage including vinyl application, weeding, laminating, cutting, substrate cutting, sign installation, etc.

Reports to:  Production Manager & Senior Sign Production Technician

Work Location:  In Shop in Plattsburgh & Off site

Position Type:  Full-time – Hourly (non-exempt), would consider part-time for the right person

Compensation: $17 to $20 / hr. depending on experience

Additional Responsibilities and Duties • Maintain safe and clean work area at all times • Care and maintenance of assigned tools • Other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required. Required • Clean Driver’s license • Working knowledge of hand tools • Working knowledge of Windows based computers • Superior attention to detail • Strong basic math skills (addition, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals) • Experience in hands-on work environment • Reliability, flexibility, and a have a professional attitude and appearance • Ability to lift stock and materials of 50 lbs. onto equipment without machine assistance • Ability to: o troubleshoot problems and develop solutions o read, understand, and interpret work orders o follow written and verbal instructions o correctly use and read a tape measure o multitask in a schedule-driven environment with the ability to maintain accuracy o take directions and be willing to learn o work off shift hours as needed o work as part of a team and unsupervised • High School, Trade School diploma or GED • United States Work Authorization Preferred • Experience in a finishing environment (1 year) • Experience with Cutter and Flatbed laminators • Experience with vinyl production and installation • Sign industry experience • Post-Secondary Education or Equivalent Experience We will train the right person Physical Abilities The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • Lift stock of various weights and materials onto the equipment without machine assistance • Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in writing, oral, diagram, or schedule form. • Calculate figures and amounts using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and geometry. • May also be exposed to loud noises, dust, and fumes from the manufacturing plant.
