What Exactly Is Window Film?

Window film is a type of material on which you can print graphics, images, and text. You can then adhere this film to a window. It works very similarly to vinyl. We also use high-quality adhesives that won’t damage your window, wall, vehicle, or any other surface on which you install it.

The main difference between a vinyl window graphic and window film is that vinyl is opaque and window film is see-through. Kind of. Obviously, it’s not entirely transparent because then it would just be a standard window. It’s largely translucent depending on your perspective.

Window Film: Like A One-Way Mirror

A one-way mirror, also called a two-way mirror (confusingly), is a piece of glass that’s totally reflective on one side, and see-through on the other. You’ve probably seen such a mirror on a television detective or police drama. Window film is like that.

Because it has a surface with many small perforations, you can see right through it if it’s blank and light-colored. This means that people on the outside of the window film see a solid, vivid graphic. But those inside, can still see out the window.

Storefront Window Film

Window film is great for stores with shopwindows or other businesses with front windows. Imagine an eye-glass store in Plattsburgh. To identify and promote the store, the owner might want to install a large window graphic displaying photographs of models wearing some of the glasses they sell.
